Rob MacKenzie

Rob is a nurse practitioner on a 30 bed inpatient Geriatric Rehabilitation Unit at St. Joseph's Health Care, Parkwood Hospital. He is an Assistant Professor, School of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Western Ontario as well as highly involved in the education of Family Medicine residents (and other sub-specialty residents), who rotate through the GRU on a monthly basis. He is also an instructor in the Post RN, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) Program for the School of Nursing at Ryerson University. He has been preceptor to students in the Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner (PHCNP) program at UWO, the PHCNP program from Athabasca University, the Nurse Practitioner (Adult) program at University of Toronto, and for the BScN Program at UWO.

Rob is member of the executive of the London & Region Avanced Practice Nurses group. Research interests include frailty and outcome measurement in geriatric rehabilitation. He has been instrumental in implementing the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI), National Rehabilitation Reporting System (NRS), Rehabilitation Data Set on the GRU. He has been involved in a number of research efforts to study "Continuity of Care", "Adherence to Discharge Recommendations", and "Medication Reconciliation". He is the "Site Lead" for the RNAO "Delirium, Dementia & Depression" Best Practice Guidelines implementation at Parkwood  Hospital. He is a part of the Ontario Rehabilitation Research Network and will continue to be involved in geriatric rehabilitation research both locally and nationally.
