SUMMARY:New fables for a New World: Guest lecture by Dr. Inci Bozkaya
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:JOIN US IN THE DEPARTMENT OF GERMANIC AND SLAVIC STUDIES FOR A\
nFASCINATING PUBLIC LECTURE!\n\nIn 1548 Burkard Waldis published his versi
on of an Aesopian Fable\ncollection. The title promises Aesopian fables\n
“completely renewed” with a hundred “new fables” never\npublished
before. What the ‘new’ entails is never established by\nthe author\,
but an analysis of the text shows that it challenges our\nmodern understan
ding of the fable. Waldis presents tales that follow a\ntypical fable form
at: short little stories with animals followed by a\nshort sentence with a
  moral lesson.
