Nicole Knapp is an MA student in the Intercultural German Studies program run jointly by the University of Mannheim and the University of Waterloo. She received her Bachelor degree in German Studies and Literature and Philosophy in Mannheim in 2011. Her research interest lies especially in cultural studies and therefore, her Master’s Thesis will discuss how comedies about the GDR help to build and keep up a cultural memory.
