Job Openings: Support Specialists

The Graduate Student Association – University of Waterloo is seeking driven graduate students for the following support positions:
- Executive Support Specialist (2)
- Governance Support Specialist
- Student Association Support Specialist
- Programs & Services Support Specialist (2)
Qualified candidates are invited to apply by 5pm on Friday, May 5, 2017. Please include your résumé or CV and a cover letter addressing your qualifications and your interest in the position.
Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. Interviews will start during the week of May 8 - 12.
The support specialists are expected to work on average 10 hours per week at a rate of $17.50 per hour. The contract of employment is from the date of hire to April 30, 2018.
Interested applicants are expected to demonstrate familiarity with the Association’s bylaws and policies and with social, political, and academic issues affecting graduate students.

New students - Enrolments and Opt-outs
If you’re a new student starting in the Spring Term or a Co-op student who was not on Academic Term in Fall 2016 or Winter 2017, you can opt out or enrol your spouse and/or dependent children during the Spring Change-of-Coverage Period, between May 1 - 19, 2017 for coverage from May 1 - Aug. 31, 2017.

Regular Term Events
Are YOU working with Python Programming language or interested in learning? Do YOU need help/feedback with Python programming projects? Drop in and visit the Python programmers groups… various skill levels are welcome. Enjoy camaraderie, mentorship, and exchange of ideas in a supportive environment.
Meet and mingle with exciting people from all around the world! The International Canadian Student Network runs the Babble Cafe every other Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm upstairs at the Grad House. This is a perfect opportunity to meet other students and practice your English conversation skills.
Trivia Night - Every other Wednesday at 7pm
Trivia Night is back in the Spring term every other Thursday! Bring your friends and your wit for a night of challenging puzzles and awesome prizes! Get here early, space is limited!
Free Food Thursday - Every Thursday at 7pm
Free Food Thursday is back on EVERY week in the Spring/Summer term (except exam period). Come on out for some delicious seasonal treats and summer meals!

Open Mic - Every other Thursday at 7:30pm
Every other Thursday starting May 11th at 7:30PM. Do you play an instrument or sing? Come to the Graduate House for OPEN MIC NIGHT. It’s easy! Just sign up and play a couple of tunes! Visit Graduate House events page or follow UW Grad House Open Mic to stay updated.
We need grad students to help run events at the Grad House! It’s a great way to meet new friends, get involved, and enjoy GH gift certificates. We especially are in need of people interested in hosting Wednesday Night Trivia - what a great way to show off your mad skills! INT'L SPOUSES - Tea & English, cooking, gardening
Spouses and partners of int'l students, post-docs, and visiting scholars are invited to attend Int'l Spouses' activities. These include: Tea & English with Nancy (on Thursday mornings, children welcome -- not an English class, just a chance to chat with people from around the world); the Knitting Group (some Monday evenings at Coffee Culture in Uptown Waterloo); the Cooking Group (cook and eat int'l foods); and the Gardening Group (plant and enjoy vegetables and flowers!).
