Dissertation Boot Camp is designed to help dissertation writers get a jump start on meeting their writing goals.
This Dissertation Boot Camp takes place over eight weeks in the winter term: Monday mornings from 9:00am to 12:30pm beginning January 21st and ending March 4th (excluding the Family Day holiday).
Our next in-person, intensive Dissertation Boot Camp will take place in April 2019.
PhD and masters students are welcomed to apply. Please note that Engineering students writing their dissertation proposals are invited to apply.
The Dissertation Boot Camp program combines dedicated writing time, goal setting and writing strategy sessions, and one-on-one meetings with our writing specialists.
Dissertation Boot Camp has strict parameters for participation. Before applying, please think ahead to the week of the camp and decide whether you can meet the following expectations:
You must be already writing or ready to begin.
Participants will be selected based on their applications. Those applicants who are not selected will be added to a waiting list in case there are cancellations.
The application deadline to participate in the the winter 2019 Sustained Dissertation Boot Camp has now passed. The next Dissertation Boot Camp will take place in April 2019.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is centralized within our Office of Indigenous Relations.
