Graduate LaTeX-writing workshop: Writing your thesis and other large documents

This workshop for graduate students is an introduction to LaTeX, giving you the basics that you need to know to get going on writing academic and professional papers, including your thesis. Using Overleaf, presenters will share how to include images, design beautiful mathematical equations, and show you how to easily manage your documents.

Full-day and afternoon only registration available.

• Afternoon only registration includes Overleaf features and LaTeX for your thesis.
• Lunch is not included in the afternoon only registration type.

LaTeX facilitators:

• Max Salman (PhD student, Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of Waterloo), and
• Steve Carr (Information Systems & Technology, University of Waterloo).

9:30am-10:50am: Welcome and Basic LaTeX (includes basic text editing, figure, tables, bibliography, and math markup)

11:00am-12:00pm: Basic LaTeX (continued)

Additional information: Registration is required through Eventbrite. 

Attendees will need to bring their own laptop (or tablet with keyboard) in order to fully participate in the workshop. It is recommended that you also bring your charger.

This event/workshop is free for University of Waterloo graduate students. However, a $10.00 materials fee will be charged in the event of a late cancellation (cancellation that is not made 3 days or more before the workshop/event date), no show, or incomplete attendance.
