3MT Ontario finalists

Congratulations Haya Almutairi, PhD Candidate, Civil & Environmental Engineering

On Wednesday, April 17 McMaster University hosted the 2019 Ontario Three Minute (3MT) Competition. Nineteen 3MT champions gathered to represent universities from across Ontario, and compete for a spot in the National 3MT competition.  The quality of presentations and variety of research made choosing the winners a difficult task for the judges, but in the end the following students were named:

First place: Alex Kjorven from Ryerson University for her presentation on "The Gamification of Climate Change"

Second place: Yoah Suri from Western University for his presentation "Sofa, so good? Maybe not"

Third place: Amanda Brissenden from Queen’s University for her presentation "Building Blocks for a Healthier Spine"

Fourth place: David Patch from Royal Military College for his presentation "A Slippery Situation: Release of PFAS from Commercial Products"

*Fifth place: Haya Almutairi from the University of Waterloo for her presentation "Self-Healing Asphalt Pavements"

Competitor's Choice: Yoah Sui from Western University

The National 3MT competition is a virtual event, that is hosted by the Canadian Association of Graduate Studies (CAGS) each spring. Best of luck to all competitors, and especially Haya from University of Waterloo!
