Apply online

The application process at Waterloo is managed electronically*. 

All post-secondary education (universities and colleges) must be declared on your application. This includes incomplete studies and transfer credit courses.

Complete our online application and pay the non-refundable application fee of $100 Canadian per program. 

Note: you will be leaving our graduate studies website to complete and submit your online application.  The online application is processed through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) and requires 1 - 2 business days for OUAC to provide Waterloo with your application information. 

After your online application has been received by Waterloo, an account will be created for you in Quest, our student information system. 

We will then send you an email with instructions on how to upload your documents

Once you have uploaded* the required documents your file will be reviewed by the department.  Review how we make decisions and monitor the status of your application.

*Do not mail any application documents.

*Do not mail additional documents (professional certificates, statements of interest, covering letters, bank statements). They will not be retained by the University.

*All materials, including transcripts, submitted to the University of Waterloo become the property of the University and will not be returned.

Changes to your application

Please ensure you apply to the correct program in the correct department.  Once your application has been submitted, you cannot change the program(s) you originally selected. 

Changes to your program selection require a new application.
