A scholarship valued at a minimum of $1,200 will be provided annually to female graduate students registered full time in a Master’s or Doctoral program in the Faculty of Mathematics based on demonstrated academic excellence (normally 80% cumulative average in their current program). Preference will be given to students in Computer Science. This fund is made possible by David Ash, BMath ‘87 to support a future female generation of excellence in graduate studies and research.
The goal is to provide at least one award valued at a minimum of $1,200 CAD annually, however the value and/or number of awards may change from year to year. While the endowment is building, the donor will support the award with a $2,000 award.
Due to an additional donation from the donor, the Fall 2017 award value will be $5,000.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within the Office of Indigenous Relations.
