Final GRADtalk event of 2017: Speakers present to a full house

On Thursday, November 16, the final installment of our GRADtalks series took place in the Board and Senate Room. Opening remarks were made by special guest Bryan Tolson, President of the Faculty Association.

This time the topic was on Tipping Points in Complex Systems, and the speakers were:

  • Yonatan Strauch, PhD Candidate in Social and Ecological Sustainability, Faculty of Environment
  • Thomas Bury, PhD Candidate in Applied Mathematics, Faculty of Mathamatics  

Yonatan and Thomas spoke to a captive audience, which included Feridun Hamdullaphur, President, University of Waterloo.

GRADtalks is a series of research talks featuring two University of Waterloo doctoral students, speaking about a common theme from their research perspectives – highlighting t he remarkable work done by Waterloo graduate students. 

We look forward for the return of GRADtalks in 2018!
