Grebel Fund - Orchestra

Support the Orchestra@Waterloo

The Orchestra is part of the University of Waterloo's Music Department that is housed at Conrad Grebel University College, and adds a rich musical experience to the lives of so many students, alumni, faculty, and staff.

Like all Music Department ensembles, the orchestra provides a creative outlet for UWaterloo students to express their musicality in the midst of essays, labs, lectures, and work-term reports. The orchestra also welcomes Waterloo staff, faculty, and alumni to participate in the ensemble. Please watch our website for concert times and locations, especially our term-end concerts and our free noon-hour concerts. We hope you will consider a gift to the Grebel Fund for the orchestra and to support music on the Waterloo campus!

MUSIC ENSEMBLES PLAY A KEY PART IN THE UNIVERSITY EXPERIENCE

Shayan’s personal philosophy is that university is a place to seek out passions and discover what you are interested in. “Music is a large part of my life, regardless of my career,” said Shayan, who just graduated with a degree in Computer Science and a minor in Music.

“My student life absolutely would not have been the same without ensembles,” said Shayan, who played in orchestra@uwaterloo for eight terms. “The CS program stimulates certain parts of your brain, and sometimes it can feel overwhelming. Having music as a creative outlet is very beneficial for my mental health and overall motivation because of the variety of challenges that it involves,” he shared.
