Hello, hello! My name is Colin. I come from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and I'm in my third year of Planning (hopefully with a design specialization), so let's talk about maps, demographics, bylaws, and electoral systems! That being said, I love long conversations about pretty much anything. You'll most often find me chatting for hours at the dinner tables or out for a walk, climbing a tree. I like biking and canoeing and sitting in nature. I adore hymns and music, love to read novels, think science is super cool, and love to discuss philosophy and theology - come by for a cup of tea or just to say "Hi!" any time!
Hello everyone! I'm Eva Booker. I'm entering my second year of Peace and Conflict Studies and Social Development Studies. Some of my favourite things include listening to folk music, painting, thrift shopping, and biking around the city! I was an environment rep last year, and also enjoyed conversations at peace society meetings and singing with friends at hymn-sing. Around Grebel, you may find me chatting around a dinner table, poking around in the garden or reading under a tree. When you need a study break, you can always count on me for a cup of tea and some good conversation!
Hi folks! My name is Joel Woods. I'm heading into my 3A term studying Mathematics in the Fall, and I'm so happy to be living at Grebel once again. I grew up in Oakville, but currently live in Kingsville, which is the southernmost town in mainland Canada! I love playing and listening to music, and I'm always on the lookout for new album recommendations. I enjoy going out for walks, seeing nature, and taking pictures of ducks (the best birds). I love watching baseball and playing trivia, and I've spent countless wonderful hours climbing trees around Grebel. I have really enjoyed being a part of Grebel's Peace Society, being involved in hymn sing, and setting the Grebel record (along with my roommate) for most games of ping pong played in a single day (51!) I'm incredibly excited for the year at Grebel.
Hi! I’m Alana Matsuo. This fall and winter will be my second year of Knowledge Integration (ask me about my program!!). I have LOTS of interests which is great since KI emphasizes the connections between various fields. I’m from Kitchener and know this area well, so hit me up if you need a tour guide! I’m passionate about art, social justice, and movies. I work at an escape room and love mysteries and codes. As for Grebel involvements, I am a member of QuAQ and the environment club, a former Grebelspeaks editor, and was involved with last year’s production of Big Fish. I cannot wait to go hall wandering again!
Hi Folks! My name is Hanne Kuhnert. To start with the basics, I will in my 3B term of the Arts and Business program pursuing a Psychology Major and a Peace and Conflict Studies (PACS) Minor - a mouth full I know, but a great program! Both people and peace are some of my biggest passions and so if you ever want to chat let me know!
I really love music so while you might catch me trying to learn a new song on my ukulele, guitar, or occasionally cello, you'll most often hear me singing to myself wherever I go. Another one of my favourite past times has to be spending hours out on the volleyball court or trying to learn new frisbee tricks - but really I'll play most any sport if I get the chance.
At the end of the day, as a Waterloo local and a Grebel enthusiast, I can't wait to share in these places I call home with you! Here's to a great term together!
Hey Y'all! My name is Marcus Labun. I will be in my 2A/2B terms of Health Studies in the fall and spring this year. If you're in any first year Health studies courses, I'm always happy to answer any questions you might have! I come all the way from Winnipeg, Manitoba so don't be surprised to find me rocking a pair of shorts in the middle of winter.
I am an avid lover of anything outdoors (camping, hiking, canoeing, climbing etc.), and I can often be found outside on nice days. I also enjoy playing a variety of sports and I'm always ready for a game of beach vball. If you're looking for someone to visit with, I'd be happy to chat and thoroughly enjoy meeting new people! If there is anything I can do to help make your time at Grebel positive, it would be great to connect with you. With all the fun ... and challenges of living away from home, navigating virtual learning, and adjusting to the course workload, it has always helped me to know that there is a great group of students at Grebel who are ready to support each other.
Hey y’all! My name is Kayla Burmaster. This fall I will be starting my 2B term of Honours Arts, double majoring in Music and Psychology. I’ve been passionate about Music for many years of my life and I recently discovered that I think brains are SO cool (you might as well call me a zombie, hungry for knowledge about brains) and I hope to one day become a Psychotherapist!
Hello friends, my name is Isabella McCloskey, but everyone calls me Issie! I am in my second year double majoring in Peace and Conflict Studies and Political Science with a minor in Legal Studies! I’m super stoked to be one of your dons during these upcoming fall/winter terms.
I always love chats about social justice, good laughs, crazy adventures, rowing, and all things peace! You can find me outside, or spending far too long visiting with people and studying together. I can’t wait to see you all, it’ll be a blast!
My name is Nathan Toews. I am from Leamington, Ontario which is the southern most town in Canada. I am in my 3rd Year of Recreation and Sports Business with a minor in Event Management. This will hopefully lead me to teacher’s college so that I can become a teacher. I have many passions which range from sports, to movies (especially Marvel), to being around people and hanging out with them, playing board/card games, camping, learning new things, and trying new foods. My favourite quote is from the movie Kung Fu Panda by Master Oogway ~ “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift, that is why it is called the present.” Can’t wait to see all you guys and get to know you more!!
