Together with the Grand Philharmonic Choir and the KW Symphony, the UW Chamber Choir will perform Bach's St. Matthew Passion at the Centre in the Square. First performed in Leipzig on Good Friday in 1727, the St. Matthew Passion is widely regarded as one of the masterpieces of sacred classical music. This Good Friday performance has become a cherished tradition in Waterloo Region. Mark Vuorinen is both the director of the UW Chamber Choir and the Grand Philharmonic Choir.
The UW Gamelan Ensemble, directed by Dr. Maisie Sum, will play a selection of Balinese gamelan pieces. If you have never heard this sort of percussion music before, you will find this fascinating. This concert is part of the WLU series of noon hour concerts.
