Orchestra@uwaterloo is a university-wide orchestra open to students, staff, faculty, and alumni of the University of Waterloo. The orchestra's Music Director is Daniel Warren.
Music has long been a constant companion to many aspects of the human condition. It can invite people to dance or offer comfort in times of distress; it can be used in reverence of God, or offer commentary on life’s great joys and tribulations. Just as “there is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens”, there is music to accompany it all.
This exhibition, sponsored by Mennonite Central Committee and curated by the Korean Art Forum, collects rarely seen works by American, Chinese, North and South Korean artists.
War monuments, cenotaphs and honour rolls remind us daily of the most dramatic and familiar stories of war. This exhibit tells war stories of a different kind, and lays out an alternative memorial landscape—the landscape of nonresistance.
These stories are gleaned from letters, diaries, newspapers, photographs, government documents and family histories found in the Mennonite Archives of Ontario. Together, they paint a picture of the Great War from a “peace church” perspective.
