A presentation by

Laureen Harder-Gissing,

Mennonite Archives of Ontario.

Thursday, June 14, 2012 7:00 PM

at the Peter A Epp Centre Auditorium Leamington Mennonite Home

When historian L.J. Burkholder combed the province for Mennonite history in the 1930s, he gathered a “Mennonite Box” of records. In 1942, the box was installed in a book store in Kitchener, and the Archives was born. Later, as its contents grew, it moved to Rockway Mennonite High School and then to its current home, Conrad Grebel University College. Laureen will weave pictures, recordings, and documents of Mennonites in the Leamington area into her presentation about the rich heritage of Mennonites in Ontario.

Fred Martin, Director of Development, will also provide an update of construction on the new Archives facilities at Conrad Grebel.
