Noon Hour Concert: Indulgences

Wednesday, October 23, 2019 12:30 pm - 12:30 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

Elizabeth Lepock, soprano

Simone Luti

Soprano Elizabeth Lepock and collaborative pianist Simone Luti will present musical indulgences on the topic of food, poetry, love, and more… Arranged as a meal, this recital will include a few “meatier” songs sets, by such composers as Liszt and Rachmaninoff, interspersed with shorter tidbits, by Canadian composer David MacIntyre, setting appetizer and dessert food descriptions.

Local to Kitchener-Waterloo, Ms. Lepock holds an Honours Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance and Music History from Wilfrid Laurier University, and Master of Music in Literature and Performance from Western University where she will also be defending her Doctor of Musical Arts dissertation in fall 2019.   Her varied teaching experience includes private teaching, six years on faculty at Ontario Mennonite Music Camp at Conrad Grebel University College, and master’s and doctoral level teaching assistant positions in diverse subjects.

As a performer, Ms. Lepock enjoys sharing all kinds of repertoire, from well-known classics of the opera, oratorio, and recital literatures, to newly composed works. Art song recital may be her absolute favourite, due to her deep passion for poetry and foreign languages.

A native of Lucca, Tuscany, orchestral conductor and pianist Simone Luti is quickly gaining recognition and acclaim for his musical instincts and sensitivity on the podium and at the keyboard.  He has conducted on the podiums for such organizations as  The Musical Festival in Ticino Locarno, Switzerland, in Albania at the Opera Theatre in Tirana, the Symphony Orchestra of Bacau, Romania, and the International Opera Theatre of Philadelphia (in Teatro degli Avvaloranti, Città della Pieve; Teatro Mancinelli, Orvieto; and The University of Performing Arts, Philadelphia).  At the keyboard, Mr. Luti has performed as a solo and collaborative pianist in recitals, opera galas, and chamber groups for theatres and musical institutes throughout Italy, Austria, Switzerland, and Belgium, playing. Of note was his debut at the Lucerne Festival playing for soprano Irina Lungu.

Luti is also the Opera Music Director and Symphony Orchestra Director at the University of Western Ontario.
