Family and Sexuality in Mennonite History

Mennonites have lived in families and as sexual beings, throughout their history. Yet there has been minimal research on or conversation about the meaning, structure, and function of families in Mennonite history. Even less examined is the notion of sexuality as experienced and expressed by Mennonites in the past. Both are at the core of human identity. Conrad Grebel University College at the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario is hosting a 2-day conference on “Family & Sexuality in Mennonite History: An Academic and Community Education Conference,” October 12-13, 2007.

Lynn McRuer: the spirit of creativity, relevance, and excellence

Grebel votes to support a refugee student

In a groundbreaking constitutional amendment this March, Conrad Grebel University College students voted almost unanimously to increase their residence fees by ten dollars a term, in addition to regular fee increases. This levy will help to fund expenses to allow a refugee student to live at the college while studying at the University of Waterloo.

Currently, the University of Waterloo supports one refugee student. Next year it plans to support two, with hopes of increasing this number in the future.

New agreement on theological education signed

On December 18, 2006 an historic agreement on Graduate Theological Studies (GTS) was signed between Conrad Grebel University College, St. Jerome’s University and the University of Waterloo.

This new milestone in our GTS program is the happy result of the good reputation established by the program, a compelling vision for the future, and much goodwill among those who worked together to reach this agreement,
