Mary Brubaker-Zehr holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Recreation and minor in Music from the University of Waterloo (1985), a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Wilfrid Laurier University (2005), and is a Master of Divinity (M.Div) candidate from the Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary in Elkhart, Indiana. Mary worked in the field of recreation therapy for two years before beginning her M.Div studies. She has clinical and administrative training through the MSW program. Prior to her arrival at Grebel in 1996, Mary was a pastoral intern for a year in a multicultural Mennonite church in Chicago, after which she worked for the Colombian Mennonite Church in Bogota, Colombia, for three and one-half years with the Mennonite church agency, Commission on Overseas Mission. As Director of Student Services, her primary responsibility is to oversee and administer the residential program. She endeavours to work with students to create a person-oriented community where high value is placed on respect, inclusion, honesty, interdependence, responsibility and engagement.
