Cognitive Science (Graduate Diploma)

Programs

Graduate Diploma (GDip) in Cognitive Science

The Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Science is offered in conjunction with existing master's or doctoral degrees. To be eligible for the Cognitive Science Diploma, students have to be enrolled in an MA or PhD program in a department that already offers an approved graduate degree, for example Computer Science, English, Philosophy, Psychology, and Systems Design Engineering. To receive the Cognitive Science Diploma, students must fulfill all requirements of the degree programs in which they are enrolled as well as the requirements for the Diploma.

Admission Requirements

To apply for admission to the Graduate Diploma program, students should contact the Director. Applications should include a recent grade report and a 1-page statement of interest in cognitive science, and a proposal for a set of courses that they wish to take to satisfy the requirements.

Diploma Requirements

For the Diploma, students are required to complete 4 approved 1-term courses, of which no more than 1 can be from their home department. Because this program is for an interdisciplinary diploma rather than a separate degree, students will be allowed to double count courses for both the diploma and their degree. The following course is mandatory:

COGSCI 600 Seminar in Cognitive Science

This is an interdisciplinary seminar in which each week is taught by a different faculty member from diverse departments.
