General Admission Requirements
General admission requirements are outlined in the Academic Regulations section of this Calendar (some departments may require higher TOEFL scores than the minimum requirement for admission). However, it should be noted that every graduate student must have a supervisor who is the faculty member responsible for the student's study and research program. Since the number of students that a faculty member can supervise is limited, the number of openings in specific research areas is also limited. Hence, it is possible that an applicant who satisfies all academic criteria for admission may not be admitted if an appropriate supervisor does not have an opening for an additional graduate student.
It should also be pointed out that not all graduate courses listed are given in each academic year. The more specialized courses are given only when there is a reasonable demand. Inquiries concerning further details and openings in specific research areas are welcome. Further information and application forms may be obtained by writing to the Graduate Officer of the department concerned.
