Smoking Cessation Workshops

In our latest blog we share information on smoking cessation workshops that are available to Region of Waterloo residents.

To complement these workshops, did you know that our Employee Assistance Program (EFAP) also provides a complimentary smoking cessation coaching program through Life Smart Coaching Services. This program is available to employees of the University of Waterloo.

Smoking Cessation Workshops for Region of Waterloo Residents

The following information was received from the Youth and Young Adult Health team, Healthy Living Division, Region of Waterloo Public Health & Emergency Services located in Cambridge.

Statistics show that smoke-free policy encourages people to quit smoking or to cut down. To support Wilfrid Laurier’ University’s (WLU) Smoking Cessation Policy, students and staff from all postsecondary institutions who are currently smoking, are invited to register for Smoking Treatment for Ontario Patients (STOP) workshops.

The STOP group workshops are funded through the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). They involve a one hour group presentation with individualized assessment at the end of the workshop. Spaces fill up on a first come first serve basis. We prefer registration, but drop-ins are welcomed.

You must be 18 years of age or older, smoke more than 10 cigarettes per day and be willing to set a quit date within 30 days of the workshop to receive the free 5 weeks of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (patches). All Waterloo Region residents are welcome to attend.
