HeForShe Get Free Tour: Campus Rally & President's Lecture

The University of Waterloo is the first stop on the Canadian University Get Free Tour hosted by UN Women. The programming will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a campus rally to welcome the HeForShe tour bus and special guests. Join us for music, refreshments and HeForShe giveaways.

The Get Free Tour will proceed with a high impact President’s lecture starting at 10:30 a.m that is aimed at discussing the male imperative in gender equity. Panelists will contribute future-oriented, local and global social justice perspectives related to youth engagement, sexual violence and pay equity.

Participants will include: 

  • Feridun Hamdullahpur, President and Vice-Chancellor, University of Waterloo
  • Diana Parry, Associate Vice-President Human Rights, Equity and Inclusion
  • Elizabeth Nyamayaro, Senior Advisor to Under Secretary-General and Executive Director, UN Women
  • Plus SPECIAL guest

  • Corey Johnson, Professor, Department of Recreation & Leisure Studies, University of Waterloo (moderator)
  • Jermal Alleyne, NextGenMen, Conestoga College
  • Sara Casselman, Executive Director, Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region
  • Bessma Momani, Professor of Political Science at the University of Waterloo, Senior fellow at the Centre for International Governance and Innovation
