Canada can become an equity superpower

On Wednesday, University of Waterloo alumna Bardish Chagger was sworn in as Canada's new Minister of Small Business and Tourism. But there's more to celebrate. Chagger is one of 15 women in a federal cabinet that symbolically achieves gender parity.

New UWaterloo efforts to recruit women in computing

The University of Waterloo named a professor and longtime advocate for increased female participation in her field as its first-ever director of Women in Computer Science.

In her new role, Joanne Atlee will continue to strive to help women feel comfortable and confident in the field largely dominated by men. She is an expert in model-based software engineering and a professor in the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science at Waterloo.

Waterloo announces HeForShe scholarships

The University of Waterloo will award 24 outstanding female students a total of $288,000 over the next four years as part of a new scholarship supporting ongoing efforts to achieve comprehensive, long-term and sustainable gender equality.
