Perfectly timed with International Women's Day, UN Women's HeForHse Arts Week was celebrated for one week from March 8th-15th.
This week-long celebration of the power of the arts was an opportunity for everyone to take part and to take action; to examine social norms, push boundaries, and bring about social change.
Partner institutions - ballets, operas, Broadway shows, music concerts, theaters, galleries and museums - raised awareness of gender equality and donated a percentage of proceeds to UN Women's work in creating a gender-equal world.
Starting this fall, a new interdisciplinary course will explore the nature of gender equity problems and strategies for improving equity, and will emphasize the connections between gender, race, class, and sexuality.
