HeForShe scholarships awarded to exceptional first year STEM students

Six HeForShe scholarship winners

Six HeForShe IMPACT scholarships have been awarded to exceptional female students entering their first year as undergraduates in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM). The scholarships are part of Waterloo’s commitment to encourage more young women to pursue fields in STEM, where females are currently underrepresented.

An academic’s struggle with infertility

An Anonymous article was published in University Affaris that explores the hardships of fertility issues in academia.  

"I was recently invited to review a colleague’s file for promotion. In her file, a referee applauded the candidate’s ability to balance her work commitments with her constant support of her children. I would like to say that I was pleased to see her ability to balance work and family receive recognition in the workplace. I am ashamed to say that my reaction was much uglier. I was envious.

Male Professors Can (and Should) Promote Gender Balance

"I am a male professor at a business school. While I always found discrimination against women to be wrong, it never felt like my problem, as I am not a woman and I do not (knowingly) discriminate against women.
