This article essentially provides an overview of what the Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI) was and examples of the research conducted. The purpose of the CCI is to \“support the heritage community in conserving Canada\’s heritage collections\” (McCormick, 2007). It was founded in 1972 and is part of the Department of Canadian Heritage (McCormick, 2007). While their main clientele is the Canadian museums, art galleries, archives and libraries, they also provide services to private organizations (McCormick, 2007). The institutions consists of a variety of professionals, from conservators, conservation scientist to preservation advisors (McCormick, 2007). All of who work together to provide services such as scientific analysis of historical materials and artefacts, site visits, requests for conservation treatments and assisting museum facilities on how to protect their collections (McCormick, 2007).
