The article argues to define distinction between heritage and historic sites to emphasize the multidimensionality of heritage. Wood investigates the definition heritage through the context of two historical sites in Calgary. Cross-analyzing these two sites, the Heritage Park Historical Village and Fort Calgary Historic Park, Wood concludes that history is confined to particular spaces that often limit the presentation of heritage. Instead, the attempts in animating and structuring the past within these two sites have only resulted in the aesthetic of \“heritage\”. Moreover, these case studies that Wood analyzes demonstrates the spatial fracturing of time that has caused heritage to become an economic and political commodity in Calgary.
