Professor Drescher joined the Heritage Resources Centre (HRC) as Associate Director in 2015. Throughout this appointment he contributed to the transition of the HRC to its new governance model. In 2016 he became the third Director of the HRC, succeeding Robert Shipley, the second Director of the HRC.
Professor Robert Shipley became an active associate of the Heritage Resources Centre (HRC) as a graduate student in the 1990s. He organized events, published occasional papers and assisted with the functioning of the Centre. In 2003 he became director, a University appointed position, succeeding the founder and first director of the HRC, Gordon Nelson. He remained in this position until his retirement in 2016
Professor Emeritus Gordon Nelson founded the Heritage Resources Centre (HRC) in 1987 to replace the Parks Canada-University of Waterloo partnership which had operated since 1984. He served as director until his retirement in 2003 and during his tenure the centre published dozens of studies, occasional papers and workshop proceedings. Professor Nelson continues to be an advisor and supporter of the HRC.
Marg is the office administrator with a special interest in historic architecture, restoration and re-use. She is the former chairman of the City of Waterloo Heritage Committee, a member of the Region of Waterloo Heritage Planning Advisory Committee and a member of the Township of Wilmot Municipal Heritage Committee.
