Off campus events

If you are hosting an event, field trip etc. off campus please ensure that accessible transportation is available for any participant with mobility requirements.

Student Access Van

The student access van provides campus transportation for students with mobility issues who are registered with AccessAbility Services. Contact AccessAbility Services to make arrangements by E-mail or Phone: 519-888-4567 ext. 35082

Accessible parking

Designated accessible parking is available for persons with disabilities or temporary medical conditions. Guidelines and process are available on the Parking Services website.

UPASS

The UPASS fee is a non-refundable fee collected on behalf of Grand River Transit. The fee is paid by full-time undergraduate students on academic term; students can also use the pass during an academic co-op or off term.

The Federation of Students issues a tax receipt each winter term for students to claim transit credits on their income tax return.

Grand River Transit (GRT)

Grand River Transit (GRT) offers services to make transit accessible to everyone.

This includes:

  • Free travel for a customer's support person. To access this service, anyone requiring support must apply for a PLUSone card which identifies them as a person requiring assistance and the person providing the assistance will not pay a fare. Additional information can be found on the GRT website.
  • MobilityPLUS service allows eligible persons to pre-book trips to and from specific destinations within Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge city limits. Service is also provided in Wilmot, Woolwich, Wellesley and North Dumfries townships through Kiwanis and MobilityPLUS North Dumfries.  Additional information can be found at MobilityPLUS, or call; TTY to have an application form mailed to you.
  • GTR buses are low-floor so the front can be lowered for ease with boarding. A ramp located at the front of low-floor buses also allows passengers with wheelchairs and other mobility devices to board on a gentle incline.
