SUMMARY:Creating a Supportive Workplace for Neurodivergent Employees

DESCRIPTION:Format: _Online workshop_\n\nMost work settings have been desi
 gned by neurotypical employers\, for\nneurotypical employees\, yet an esti
 mated 15-20% of Canadians are\nneurodivergent. Many highly skilled neurodi
 vergent individuals\nencounter workplace barriers that affect their abilit
 y to thrive in\nthe workplace. In this participatory workshop we will focu
 s on two\nforms of neurodivergence: autism and attention deficit hyperacti
 vity\ndisorder (ADHD). We will identify common workplace barriers and\ncha
 llenges and review recommended practices and processes that support\nneuro
 divergent employees. Through interactive activities\, participants\nwill r
 eview their workplace from a neurodivergent perspective\, explore\nthe hid
 den curriculum in their office\, and discuss ways to incorporate\nrecommen
 dations that would benefit neurodivergent and neurotypical\nemployees\, al
 ike.
