ONLINE: EQ201 Taking Responsibility in the Anti-Racist Movement

Wednesday, April 7, 2021 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

Listening, Acting and Taking Responsibility in the Anti-Racist Movement

Audience: Students, Faculty and Staff

What is your role in the anti-racist movement? What practical actions can you take in your workplace, your circle of friends, family and in society? What is happening with ongoing systemic racism locally in Waterloo Region? In this workshop, we will acknowledge our personal position in relationship to colonialism and racism. We will evaluate where anti-racist work is most urgent in our lives. You will leave with a strategic, short-term and long term plan to advocate for anti-racism. We will practice active listening, relationship-building and create a judgement-free zone.

Facilitated by: Janice Jo Lee

This is an online workshop hosted on Zoom. The link to join will be sent to your inbox from the Human Rights, Equity and Inclusion Trainings email (hrei.trainings@uwaterloo.ca) 48 hours prior to the workshop date.
