Previous anti-oppression and anti-racism training or a strong working knowledge of the frameworks of anti-oppression and anti-racism is a prerequisite.

Workshop Description

This workshop, facilitated by Rania El Mugammar, explores solidarity through power sharing, mutual aid, and risk taking through the lens of anti-racism. Situated within a collective and care-based praxis, the session challenges the mainstream understandings of “allyship” and dares to imagine an intersectional approach towards a collective future. Healing centred engagement, collaborative design, grassroots interventions and transformative justice are explored as critical elements of radical solidarity.

Learning Outcomes

  • critique allyship as a model and explore collaboration community building
  • gain an in depth understanding of power dynamics
  • explore concepts such as mutual aid, reparations, care labour and liberation

Participant Expectations

Participants can expect to engage in small breakout discussions as well as lecture style presentation. Participants can keep cameras on/off and engage as desired for the lecture part of the session and are encouraged to actively participate in the breakout rooms.
