Description: Halloween should be a time where we can have fun and express our creative selves. As long as we respect cultures, it really shouldn’t matter if your costume is silly or sultry themed. Posting pictures, snapchats, or IG stories of your costumes should not condemn you to inappropriate and potentially harmful comments—yet we know that online harassment skyrockets during Halloween each year.
In this workshop hosted by the Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region, participants will learn about harassment, including the legalities within Canada and Ontario, and we will offer a special focus on online communication and how you can contribute positively.
Online, 2-hour workshop in a small group setting

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is centralized within our Office of Indigenous Relations.
