Level: Introductory
This workshop is a 101 course for those that are looking to get a baseline understanding of core foundational concepts and frameworks as it relates to anti-racism, addressing disclosures of racism and bystander intervention.

Workshop Description:
This is a 3-hr introductory workshop to help staff & faculty develop a sense of accountability and understanding of the pervasive nature of racism within the Institution. The workshop will provide a high-level overview of racism and how to support someone who has experienced racism (through informal or formal mechanisms).

Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn a brief overview of racism in Canada
  • Locate our positionality of self (self-awareness)
  • Identify and understand racial disclosures
  • Understand trauma-informed and anti-racist approaches to address disclosures of racism
  • Develop strategies to address concerns of racism experienced on campus (collective activity and resources to be sent out after the training)

Participant Expectations:
The workshop will be interactive and require all participants to engage with content and collective learning. The workshop is designed to provide catalyst information to the group so that we can co-create resources and strategies to confront racism within the Institution.
