Create Campus #ConsentCulture

Seeking proposals for campus-based consent & sexual violence awareness raising actions, activities, and virtual events

The Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office is inviting all campus community members to create an engaging consent or sexual violence awareness raising initiative for Waterloo.  

  • Have an idea for what you’d like to see happen on campus? 
  • Need financial support to make it happen?
  • Believe that we all have the power to make change?   

Then this is for you!

What You Need to Know to Create and Action, Activity or Event

1. Criteria: Initiatives will be considered upong the following:

  • Demonstration that the initiative is feasible, given the funding available and our requirementthat costs be covered by March 31st 2021.
    • (Your initiative can take place after March end, but the costs must be paid by the end of March 2021).  
  • Demonstration that the initiative organizers have the capacity, skillset, and knowledge base to complete their proposals as described. 
  • Demonstration that the initiative is creative and engaging.  
  • Demonstration that the initiative compliments the education, training, and awareness currently available on UW’s campuses.  
  • And most importantly, demonstration that the initiative is grounded in an intersectional, anti-oppressive, survivor-centered, trauma-informed framework.   

2. Timelines:

  • Submissions due: February 14th, 2021 @4:30pm EST
  • Recipients notified: February 22nd, 2021
  • Costs paid for: By March 31st, 2021
  • Initiatives occur: By August 31st, 2021

3. Submitting

  • How you tell us about your proposal is completely up to you! You can send us a word document (no longer than 5 pages), a PowerPoint (no longer than 10 slides), a YouTube link to a video submission (no longer than 5 mins), a zine…
  • There’s no pressure to be extra creative in delivering your submission; rather we’re trying to make space for the different styles and information delivery techniques that different people use.  
  • Our only format related criteria is that your proposal be as concise as possible.  
  • Be sure to include:
    • A description of your action, event, activity, initiative as well as how it meets the criteria outlined above;  
    • Information demonstrating that the organizers of this initiative have the capacity, skillset, and knowledge base to complete your initiative;
    • A detailed budget of the funding you are requesting; 
    • A proposed time and date for your initiative; 
    • Any questions you have for us about next steps
  • Be sure to review the Appendix (PDF) for submission tips and definitions of key terms.
  • Submit through the webform below by February 14th, no later than 4:30pm EST
