SUMMARY:UWaterloo Indigenous Logo Creative Consult
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:CALLING ALL FIRST NATONS\, METIS\, AND INUIT STUDENTS\, STAFF\,
AND\nFACULTY AT UWATERLOO!\n\nIn recognition of our commitments to Reconc
 iliation\, Decolonization\,\nand Indigenization\, the Office of Indigenous
Relations and University\nRelations is embarking on a project to find dif
ferent ways to\nrepresent Indigeneity in the University of Waterloo logo.
Our current\nshield\, which dates to 1961\, uses the official colours of g
old\, black\nand white with double chevrons and three red lions.\n\nAccord
ing to our brand website: “The imagery is derived from the\ncoats of arm
s of two historic figures connected to Waterloo Region\n— Lord Kitchene
r and the Duke of Wellington. The colours reflect the\nGermanic heritage o
 f the Region.” -\nhttps://uwaterloo.ca/brand/how-express-our-brand/water
loo-logo\n\nRecognizing that this erases historical and contemporary Indig
enous\nlife on the territory that the University of Waterloo now occupies\
,\nthis logo project will seek to commission Indigenous artists to create\
ndifferent interpretations of the logo that will be made available in\noff
icial branding packages on the branding website for anyone at\nUWaterloo t
o use in their presentations and communications materials. \n\nThis consul
tation is the initial step towards the addition of\nIndigenous logo option
s at UWaterloo\, and we need your insight and\ncreativity! Snacks and beve
 rages will be provided!\n\nPLEASE REGISTER\nAT HTTPS://WWW.TICKETFI.COM/E
