DESCRIPTION:The Office of Indigenous Relations and the Department of Recrea
 tion\nand Leisure Studies (Faculty of Health) are pleased to co-host a\npr
 esentation by Bobbie Chew Bigby\, postdoctoral fellow at University\nof Wa
 terloo. \n\nBobbie is excited and honored to engage with the University of
 \nWaterloo community through this talk and dialogue. Beginning by first\ns
 haring some personal stories from her background and home base in\nOklahom
 a Indian Country\, Bobbie aims to sketch some of the many lines\nof connec
 tion between the lands and communities of the Waterloo area\nand Oklahoma.
  Turning next to an overview of her learning journey\,\nresearch trajector
 y\, and recent PhD dissertation\, Bobbie will\nhighlight her work document
 ing Indigenous-led tourism and resurgence\nacross Indigenous Australia and
  beyond. Images and stories from\nfieldwork in both Australia and the US w
 ill be shared\, along with\nreflections from navigating research in the re
 cent period of the\nCOVID-19 pandemic. Finally\, Bobbie’s more recent re
 search work on\ndocumenting and standing in solidarity with Indigenous-led
  toxic tours\nof environmentally assaulted land and waterscapes will be br
 iefly\ncovered\, along with an overview of other projects that are part of
  her\npostdoctoral fellowship. Following the presentation\, Bobbie looks\n
 forward to an extended question-and-answer and dialogue period to\nengage 
 in conversation with the UW community.
