  1. June 20, 2018CN-VPN hardware and software upgrade

    What is happening? The current VPN solution is end-of-life. IST is in the final phases of implementing new hardware to support campus VPN connections.

    When is this happening? A formal cut-over date has not been selected but the new VPN is expected to be operational by the end of June. The cut-over date will be announced once selected.

    What do users need to do?

  2. June 14, 2018Network outages resolved – June 14

    What happened? Network service for campus was severely degraded due to a hardware problem on the core router. The router remained online in its degraded state, preventing the redundant device from handling all routing. The issue has now been resolved and users should be able to access the network as expected.

    When did this happen? Wednesday, June 13 from 10:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Thursday, June 14

  3. June 13, 2018Email from @uwaterloo.ca blacklisted

    UPDATE: As of 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 15: Some @uwaterloo.ca accounts are still being blacklisted. IST continues to work with the blacklisting sites to remove the block. Additional communication will be shared when the issue is resolved. We apologize for the inconvenience.

    What is happening? Some @uwaterloo.ca email accounts were compromised, the result of which has caused @uwaterloo.ca to be blacklisted.
