In collaboration with campus partners in the Dana Porter Library and New Residence Building, IST has opened two new service desks. Conveniently located, the service desks offer help with wireless connection issues (Eduroam), WatIAM administration, virus removal, anti-virus installation, general inquiries, and more.
Dana Porter (DP) Library Service Desk

Success stories from the front line
"I had a student come to the desk with a display that goes grey whenever it is awoken from sleep. I initially thought this was a hardware issue until four other students came to us the next day with the exact same issue. It turned out to be a graphics driver bug due to the latest windows upgrade. Rolling back the driver instantly fixed the problem."
Turns out it was just the cable, and the student was very pleased that it was a $10 cable instead of their $800 phone.
"A student was in a panic because their phone wouldn’t turn on – we took a look at it and everything looked physically okay, so we tried plugging it in with one of our cables. A few minutes later it turned on. Turns out it was just the cable, and the student was very pleased that it was a $10 cable instead of their $800 phone"
