Meet Andrew, the new Director of Client Services

Tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Andrew McAlorum, and I’m the new Director of Client Services in IST.

"What's the plan?"

It seems hard to believe, but it has been almost 3 years since the development and approval of the Information Technology (IT) Strategic Plan.  A lot has happened over that time, including the launch of the University's Strategic Plan, some incredible initiatives and service improvements throughout the IT community, the IST reorganization, updated IT governance and the move to EC2.  Wow!

IST’s new home in East Campus 2

Information Systems & Technology (IST) is moving from our current locations in the Math & Computer building (MC) and Engineering 2 (E2) to the East Campus 2 building.

Information Systems & Technology (IST) reorganization

There is a book by Marshall Goldsmith titled “What Got You Here Won’t Get You There”. While the book is about leadership, the title is very relevant as to why organizations need to reorganize from time to time. IST’s reorganization was called “Organize for Success”. That was quickly shortened to “OFS”. The reorganization was done to position IST to best implement the initiatives in the UW IT Strategic Plan, which lays out the vision, mission, principles and values, priorities and architecture foundations for the next 5 years to advance the state of IT at the University of Waterloo.

Organize for Success update

The Organize for Success (OFS) project in Information Systems & Technology (IST) is moving into its final stages.  This is an update based on Open House sessions that were held with IST staff and with staff from across campus (PDF) in October.  It will also look to the future as our new organization ramps up with newly defined services and initiatives.
