Vu's seminar is a brief introduction to Docker-based technologies and a guide on how to port legacy applications into Docker-based infrastructure and the benefits of using Docker. Docker is a software tool that allows application and their dependencies to be bundled into a virtual container that can run on any Linux server. A Windows version of Docker is also available. Using Docker provides flexibility and portability by enabling the application to be run in various locations, whether on-premises, in a cloud service.
Vu has been a providing IT support in Management Sciences since 2006. While working at uWaterloo he completed His M-Eng(2012) degree in both Software Engineering & Management Engineering. Vu has a Bachelor of Computer Science degree from Waterloo, and among other coop placements was a Science Computing coop in 1998. After graduating with his CS degree, Vu worked for the Cooperators headquarters in Guelph. Vu has completed his CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associated) certifications. Outside of work Vu spends time doing R&D on software (and software-related topics) such as Operating System, firmware etc. and of course writing his own software. Away from IT Vu spends his free time enjoying movies, music, camping, going on extended road-trips.
