Speaker(s): Terry Labach
Terry revisit his presentation from WatITis 2019: Salespeople are promising miracles for companies adopting cloud computing. And people are buying in, rushing to move their internal IT functions to various cloud services. However, it isn't all smiles and sunshine under the cloud. There is risk in adopting this computing model, especially on the information security front. Terry will discuss some of the security and privacy issues that this entails and will outline the risks that have to be considered. Look before you leap onto a cloud!
Terry works as a Computer Security analyst for the IST Information Security Services (ISS) team at the University of Waterloo, where he focuses on web application security and computer user security awareness. When Terry is not computing, he can be found doing something related to football and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Or working on the best local music festival: the Kitchener Blues Festival, for which he volunteers as their IT officer and a stage manager.
