Speakers: Kartik Talwar and Liam Horne
Hack the North is Canada’s largest Hackathon. Last year over the course of one weekend, this event provided over 1000 students from 10 countries and 175+ schools the unique opportunity to create software or hardware solutions from scratch. The goal of the event was to encourage student participation in computer science and engineering through mentorship, resources, collaboration and engagement from industry leaders.
This talk will cover why hackathons are on the rise, what it takes to run a hackathon and how it benefits students and the community. Along with project demos from the winners of the 2014 event, Kartik and Liam will discuss a few technical challenges they are trying to solve for Hack the North 2015.
This seminar will be webcasted/recorded and questions can be asked during the webcast (there is a link on the page).
