Re: Notification of Plan changes for BlackBerry users

Please be advised that between Sunday April 26 and Friday, May 1 we will be seamlessly changing some of the BlackBerry plans for individuals on campus in an effort to reduce costs and assign the proper plan for individuals based on their last 3 months of usage.

UPDATE: Wireless Authentication (MinUWet) Issues

Issues will be resolved by backing out of the MinUWet changes. In addition to the cert / performance issues, we’ve seen some issues where users aren’t always passed to the correct role post-MinUWet (I think that’s an error on my part) and where users aren’t recognized as being on an Aruba controller (not sure what the problem there is, although I have some ideas - waiting on feedback from the user).

So we’ll try again in a day or two once we get a better handle on what’s gone wrong.

Wireless Authentication (MinUWet) Issues

This morning, the certificate presented by minuwet.uwaterloo.ca is signed by the internal Information Systems & Technology (IST)-CA, not a known trusted CA such as Thawte.

Unless your browser trusts the IST-CA, you’ll get a certificate error and the minuwet web page won’t load. Wireless access will be restricted because of the failed page load. We are currently in the process of installing a public certificate to resolve this issue.

CONNECT (Exchange Server): Brief outage tonight between 11pm and midnight

The primary nodes of the Exchange email cluster were patched automatically on Tuesday morning. Since that time, we have been using the secondary node of the Exchange cluster. There will be a brief outage tonight around 11pm while the secondary node is patched and services move back to the primary node.

Anyone connected at the time will have their connection dropped temporarily and they may need to re-authenticate their session. All mail will be queued and delivered when services resume. The actual outage should be a minute or less.
