Exchange email and calendar - brief outage January 13 at 7am

In order to support further expansion of the Exchange/Connect environment, Information Systems & Technology will be implementing changes to the network and servers providing this service on Thursday, January 13th starting at 7:00am. This operation will require a reboot of all Exchange-related servers. Access to all Exchange services (email and calendar) will be interrupted at this time. We are anticipating the outage to last between 5 and 15 minutes.

A reminder for faculty and staff not familiar with the registration system for our courses. The registration system allows attendees to view spaces available in courses, register online, and receive immediate registration notification via email.

Comment: sandvine unit for main campus wireless still experiencing problems, unit has been placed into bypass mode.
Sandvine is investigating. Service is restored, but traffic is no longer shaped.

Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) coming to PCs starting Monday January 10th

Starting Monday January 10th, Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) will be installed on Information Systems & Technology (IST)-maintained PCs across campus and any PCs subscribing to the Windows Server Update Service (WSUS). These PCs may include faculty and staff home machines as well. Subscribing computers with IE7 or earlier will be upgraded to version 8. With over 3000 workstations to upgrade, this entire process may take a few days to complete. Don’t worry, your existing "favorites" (bookmarks) will remain available.
