Hybrid search for SharePoint and Office 365: November 27 - December 4

What is happening? IST will be implementing a hybrid search solution for on-premises SharePoint and Office 365.
 
What is the impact? A hybrid search solution will provide a convenient end-user experience with unified search results, search relevance ranking, refiners, and filters. When users enter a query in a search window in Office 365, they will get search results from both Office 365 and on-premises SharePoint sites. 
 
When is this happening? Between Wednesday, November 27 and Wednesday, December 4.
 
What do users need to do? No action is required.

Akindi - scheduled maintenance

Akindi will be down for scheduled maintenance on Monday, November 25 from 9:30 - 9:45 a.m.

During this time, instructors will not be able to access their Akindi accounts, create or edit assessments and answer keys, download or upload test sheets.

Instructors will be notified of the outage via in-app message.

Removing UW Emerge from managed machines - November 27

What is happening? The old desktop notification tool, UWEmerge, will be removed from all IST-managed Windows machines.
 
When is this happening? Wednesday, November 27.
 
What is the impact? No impact is expected as IST-managed Windows machines are already running the replacement tool, WatSAFE Desktop Notification.

WatSAFE Desktop Notification tool – Mac client now available

What is happening?  The Mac version of the new WatSAFE Desktop Notification tool (announced in August) is now available.

“No GUID” message when logging into WCMS sites - November 18

What is happening? An issue when logging into WCMS sites may cause an error message “No GUID for username…” to appear. IST is aware of the issue and is investigating.  

What is the impact? This issue may prevent some users from accessing certain types of authenticated web forms or authentication-required web sites when the message appears. Affected users may find that clearing the browser cache and trying to log in again will work, as the problem is intermittent.
