IMPORTANT: Significant interruption to service delivery due to power shutdown in MC Building - August 21-24

Please note:The dates and times of this work have the potential to change. IST will confirm the timeline and provide detail on the services impacted soon.

What is happening? Plant Operations will be turning off the power in the Mathematics & Computer (MC) Building from Tuesday, August 21 to Friday, August 24 for building maintenance. This shutdown will affect the IST data center and core, wireless, and distribution networking equipment located in MC.

Proofpoint digest emails not delivered – July 10 - 13

What happened? IST security made a change in the delivery settings for the Proofpoint digest emails that unintentionally applied to all users. This change has since been reverted and users will now be receiving daily Proofpoint digest emails.

When did this happen? The change was made on Monday, July 9 and it was reverted back on Friday, July 13.

East Campus 2 (EC2) Service Desk permanent closure – August 13

What is happening? The EC2 location of the IST Service Desk will be closing following spring term final examinations.

When is this happening? Monday, August 13, 2018.

Why is this happening? Due to low usage and to optimize customer service provided at our other service desk locations.

What is the impact? The only service unique to the EC2 location is the scanning of Scantron cards for mid-term and final examinations.

Email delivery delay issues resolved – June 29

What is happening? Emails being sent to accounts had been delayed due to Microsoft throttling our connections. IST has worked with Microsoft to resolve this issue and all queued emails will be delivered shortly.

Why did this happen? Emails were initially delayed due to excessive amounts of spam being sent to from compromised accounts.

Email delivery delays - June 28

What is happening? Users have been experiencing delays in email delivery from University of Waterloo email accounts due, in part, to the disabling of TLS 1.0. IST has implemented a workaround and the backlog of queued emails are now being delivered.

Mailservices issue due to disabling of TLS 1.0 – June 26

UPDATE: The scan-to-email feature on Xerox AltaLink model printers is currently not working due to the disabling of TLS 1.0 on Tuesday, June 26. Emails are currently not being delivered.

What is being done to fix the issue? Retail Services is currently modifying the settings on printers as they are able to. Once the settings are updated, the scan-to-email feature should resume working as expected.

UPDATE: WCMS search issues – June 22

UPDATE: We will be re-implementing the search pop-up function this afternoon starting at 3:00pm. It will be pushed out to the main site first, and will be gradually pushed out to all other WCMS sites afterwards. It may take a couple of hours before all sites have the pop-up search restored.

A third-party script was causing issues with the pop-up search; this issue has now been resolved. If you are still seeing the error message, you may need to clear your browser cache.
