Skype for Business (S4B) pool failover

What is happening? Now that the MC data center shutdown is complete, S4B users originally homed on the MC pool will be failed back over.

When is this happening?  Tuesday, September 11 at 10:00 p.m. Approximate time for full functionally to return is 15-20 min, but it may take up to 2-3 hrs for all existing data to fully replicate and the pool to show as active.

What is the impact to Skype for Business users? When this process is initiated, all MC-homed users will be signed out and signed back into the MC pool in a resiliency mode until the pool failover is completed.

  • All conversations will be unavailable
  • Active, direct phone calls may be interrupted
  • Active conferences will be disconnected, but users can rejoin when the failover process is complete
  • Existing users homed on the EC2 data center pool will not be impacted during this maintenance period
