Skype for Business (S4B) pool failover – August 14

What is happening? In preparation for the MC data center shut down we will be performing a pool failover of all MC homed users to the EC2 data center pool.

When is this happening? 

  • Tuesday, August 14 at 10:00 p.m. all MC homed users will be failed over to the EC2 data center pool.
  • Failback will be communicated at a later date once the shutdown is complete.

What is the impact to Skype for Business users? When pool failover is initiated all MC homed users will be signed out and signed into the EC2 pool in a resiliency mode until the pool failover is completed.  All conversations will be unavailable but active direct phone calls may still be active at this time.  Any active conferences will be disconnected but when the failover is complete you can rejoin.  Approximate expected time for full functionality to return is 15-20 minutes.

All existing users originally homed on the EC2 data center pool will not be impacted during this time.
