  • Application owners to complete shutdown of redundant equipment/services in MC

  • IST will shut down all development VM’s

SharePoint maintenance - August 15

What is happening? In preparation for the MC data centre shutdown, four SharePoint servers will be removed from service. 

When is it happening?  Wednesday, August 15 between 7:00 and 8:00 a.m.

Why is it happening? To ensure that there are no issues prior to the MC data centre shutdown.

Who will it impact? No impact is anticipated as the remaining servers will continue to carry out email and calendar functions.

New website for Community of Practice professional development series; sessions resume September 26

A new website has been launched to support the Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) Community of Practice (CoP) professional development series. Community members can visit the site to learn more about project and portfolio management; explore (and share their own) project and portfolio resources, tools, and templates; and discover how they can engage with other community members.

Exchange Server Failover - August 14

What is happening? In preparation for the MC data centre shutdown, we will be removing two Exchange servers from service.

When is it happening?  Tuesday, August 14 between 9:00 and 10:00 p.m.

Why is it happening? To ensure that there are no issues prior to the MC data centre shutdown.

Skype for Business (S4B) pool failover – August 14

What is happening? In preparation for the MC data center shut down we will be performing a pool failover of all MC homed users to the EC2 data center pool.

Google Maps temporarily disabled in the WCMS – August 1

What is happening? The Google map that appears when you enter a location in the Events and Services content types in the WCMS is being temporarily disabled due to a change to Google’s custom map policy. IST is currently working on a permanent replacement and will inform the campus community when it is implemented.

What is the impact? Any locations added to Events or Services will no longer display a map in the WCMS. The address will remain in place.

WCMS during the MC power shutdown – August 17-31

What is happening? There is a planned power outage in the Math & Computer (MC) building, which will affect the WCMS.
 
What is the impact? During the outage, some parts of the WCMS will be operating at reduced capacity, and some non-production servers will be unavailable.

MatLAB issues resolved - July 30

What happened? The issues that were preventing users from connecting to the MatLAB server have been resolved. Users should now be able to access the service as expected. We apologize for the inconvenience.

When did this happen? Users began reporting issues at approximately 9:30 a.m. and it was resolved as of 11:00 a.m.

Outlook redirection to autodiscover server – July 23

UPDATE: The redirection to the autodiscover.uwaterloo.ca server is part of a normal process for email clients to retrieve the information it requires. Users should check the box “Always use my response for this server” and click “Allow” if the dialogue window pops up on their computer. It is possible that it will continue to pop up in the future.

IST is working with Microsoft to determine the cause and possible solution.
